The Australian poleman Pierce Lehane protected his position at the start of the Senior prefinal from Ukyo Sasahara in second place, who attacked the leader on the next round. Ferenc Kanscar was third in a threatening Anglo-Saxon group: Charlie Eastwood, Harrison Scott, Oliver Hodgson and Ed Brand. Pierce took back first place and his compatriot Joseph Mawson entered the top 10. Scott took the lead of the group and was behind Kanscar in fourth, who he passed on lap 6. After starting 29th, the French driver Alexandre Finkelstein was up to 15th already at halfway.
Eastwood took fourth position and then returned to attack Sasahara, while Scott was regularly close to the leader, Lehane. He took the lead on lap 10. But things revved up on the last lap with Sasahara second and threatening, to Scott’s surprise. The Japanese attack was successful, Scott lost time and found himself sixth. Eastwood finished second to Lehane, Kanscar was 4th, Hodgson 5th. Finkelstein was an incredible 10th.
